On October 8, 1949, Susan Alexandra Weaver was born in New York City’s Leroy Hospital. Due to his love of Roman history, her father, TV producer Sylvester L. Weaver Jr., originally planned to call her Flavia (he had already named her elder brother Trajan). Elizabeth Inglis, her mother, was a British actress who had given up her career to raise a family. Sigourney was raised by nannies and maids while living in a virtual cocoon of guilt-free luxury. The Weavers had lived in 30 different homes by 1959. Sigourney started going to Brearly Girls Academy in 1961, but her mother transferred her to Chapin, another exclusive school in New York.
Since Sigourney was much taller than most of her classmates (by the age of 13, she was already 5′ 10″), she was frequently teased and made fun of; in trying to fit in, she adopted the role of the class clown.
However, Company Man, her subsequent comedy, wasn’t quite as well received both critically and commercially. She then had a voice role in Big Bad Love (2001) and acted as a seductive con artist in Heartbreakers (2001). (2001). At the age of 93, her father passed away. Sigourney recently appeared in Tadpole (2002) and is preparing a film adaptation of The Guys (2002), the gripping one-act drama about the September 11th attacks that she performed on stage in late 2001. She was 60 years old when she contributed significantly to the 2009 box office smash Avatar. She worked on the movie with James Cameron, who directed her in “Aliens.” The ageless actress continues to be respected by her fans thanks to her beauty, talent, and hard work.
