The deuteragonist of the Disney+ Star Wars series The Mandalorian is Grogu, commonly known as The Child or more popularly known by the unofficial nom de plume Baby Yoda.
He is a 50-year-old Force-sensitive child of Yoda’s species who is sought after by the Bounty Hunters’ Guild on behalf of the remaining Imperial forces. Din Djarin adopts him as his son after finding him as a foundling among the Mandalorians. Later, Luke Skywalker briefly takes him away to train him in the ways of the Force, but he ultimately decides against becoming a Jedi and goes back to his adoptive father.
Born around 41 years before the Battle of Yavin, Grogu is a Force-sensitive being. Before surviving the end of the Clone Wars and Order 66, he was reared in the Jedi Temple on Coruscant and schooled by various Jedi. Grogu has been forced to conceal his Force prowess ever since he was forced into hiding in order to survive.
